In November, the total number of job seekers increased by 1,395 to 257,187 and the unemployment rate remained at 3.5%. That is 11,638 more when compared to the same period of 2021. The unemployment rate remained 3.0% for men, and it equalled 4.0% for women.
A month-on-month increase in the unemployment rate was recorded in 48 districts, with the highest increases in the districts of Jeseník (by 9.7%), Klatovy (by 9.6%), Jindřichův Hradec (by 8.4%), Český Krumlov (by 7.9%), Znojmo (by 7.1%), Břeclav (by 5.8%), Svitavy (by 5.1%) and Prachatice (by 4.6%).
The unemployment rate remains stable just as it did last month. Due to the energy crisis, many companies stopped recruiting and they are awaiting the outcomes of the economic situation in the first quarter. On the other hand, seasonal work is in full swing and the demand for seasonal workers in many fields, especially in retail, e-commerce and logistics, is thus on the rise. That being said, it should be noted that the unemployment rates differ significantly if we compare white and blue collars. While the demand for manual workers is very high and the unemployment rate is extremely low in this sector, the number of unemployed white collars, e.g. office workers, managers and lawyers, is increasing and the unemployment rate is thus growing here.
As of 30 November 2022, the Czech Labour Office registered a total of 291,970 vacancies. That is 5,390 fewer than in the previous month and 52,870 fewer than in November 2021. On average, there were 0.9 job seekers per vacancy, with the highest numbers reported in the districts of Karviná (10.2), Bruntál (4.6), Most (4.1), Ústí nad Labem (4.0), Opava (3.4), Jeseník (3.3), Děčín (3.3) and Sokolov (2.9).
