In March, we witnessed a drop in the unemployment rate after months of increases. This mirrors the seasonal recovery and is consistent with the annual trend. The statistics reflect the start of seasonal work and temporary jobs, as sectors such as tourism and historic sites come to life with the arrival of spring and favorable weather. At the same time, the importance of business optimism is growing—specifically among firms returning to recruitment based on quarterly forecasts. According to our HR Trends 2026 survey, a quarter of companies plan to continue hiring, highlighting the positive outlook after 40% of firms experienced economic growth last year.
As of the end of March, employers offered a total of 91,545 vacancies through the Czech Labour Office, an increase of 1,840 compared to February. The highest number of vacancies is repeatedly offered by employers in Prague (22,525 positions) and the Central Bohemian Region (13,943 positions). On average, there are currently approximately 4.1 applicants per vacancy in the Czech Republic, with the highest ratios in the districts of Karviná (20.9), Sokolov (18.7), Děčín (15.2), Bruntál (12.7), and Ústí nad Labem (12.4). There were 193.674 women in the registry, accounting for 52% of all registered job seekers.
